Marcelo Gutierrez, make-up artist and part of our BOND Studios production team, on current works and cinematic inspirations:
Growing up I wanted to be a successful artist, and that still is my dream job today. It's a constant battle but totally worth pursuing. I'm a fine artist and makeup is another medium thats supported and inspired by my writing and filmmaking. I consider it all a body of work that speaks as one.
I'm currently working on editing a new short film I directed last year, titled 'Hiraeth'. It's a beautiful piece about longing for something that never was. Coming out later this year.
My sources of inspiration come from cinema, sounds and personalities. Certain techniques from others editorials but I'm more inspired by a mood rather than a direct image. That being said, my all-time favorite fashion moment is Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman and in Scareface!!!
In beauty, I think it's most important to love yourself before concerning about how you're being represented. Then once you love yourself , express yourself unapologetically!! That is true representation. Beauty is flawed and flaws are: Beauty.
I don't believe in coincidence.
